Newport Tubes

Drew's "Newport Tubes" High resolution prints

In the summer of 2014 Hurricane Marie brought a swell to the West Coast.  It was the biggest South Swell in memory.  It brought a long-dormant wave to life in Newport Beach, CA, the waves were the best they had been ever.  For reasons unknown to the Universe, big swells love to smash the California coastline on Wednesdays.  August 27, 2014, was no exception thanks to Hurricane Marie.  On that day, Drew caught some of the biggest waves he's ever surfed in Southern California that day.  And that day was the inspiration for this painting.
