Gone Surfing is Back : 30 Years of Surf Art

It has been a great Summer Celebrating 30 years of Surf Art. I have been digging through the art and I have been finding some amazing forgotten images. This one called “Gone Surfing” was painted back when Maria, Dylan and I were traveling the world. It was inspired by our life in Samoa one summer. Our house on the water was magical, Dylan played in the sand collecting hermit crabs while Maria paddle boarded the lagoon. I took a small boat out to the surf on the outer reef every morning and the waves were amazing. Our days were quiet and relaxing in desolation, we all fell asleep together while listening to the waves of the South Pacific. I am so Grateful for these memories of our lives, sometimes I forget how amazing our lives have been. The pictures really make me smile, the painting captures the story.

This place was destroyed by a Tsunami a few months later, my friend was out surfing, he was lucky the water sucked him out as the lagoon drained, he said he could hear the trees snapping from way out in the ocean. Crazy.
