Laguna Beach, Capturing the Spirit of the Coast

Art, Energy, and Coastal Inspiration

This is a painting I created to capture my love for the artsy beach vibe of Laguna Beach, California — a place that’s always had its own rhythm, its own energy, and its own way of pulling you in. Read on for the full story, below.

The Inspiration Behind LAGUNA BEACH

I remember the first time I drove through Laguna Beach.

There’s something about catching those glimpses of hidden coves and waves breaking along the shoreline. Anyone who’s spent time in Southern California knows that stretch of Pacific Coast Highway — it’s one of those drives that sticks with you.

Back in the early days, those coves were hideouts for hippies, artists, and surfers. You can still feel that spirit there.

Right in the middle of it all is Main Beach — the iconic lifeguard tower, people surfing, skateboarding, just living the good life. That scene has always been a big part of my inspiration.

My favorite spot is just north of there — the rocky shoreline where Rockpiles breaks in the distance. There’s something raw and powerful about that stretch of coast.

From Canvas to Mural

I originally painted LAGUNA BEACH on canvas as a commissioned piece for a friend who opened the Board & Brew Restaurant right across from Main Beach.

We turned the piece into a giant wall mural inside the shop so people could step in and feel that Laguna Beach energy while they were there — like bringing the ocean inside.

With Mike of Board & Brew, in his Laguna Beach Location!

That’s always been the goal with my art… not just to show a place, but to let people feel it.

I thought this would be a great piece to share with all of you. Now available in signed, limited edition art prints.

Life is good,
Drew
