Article: Aloha Sunset and Slightly Stoopid Hawaii Tour
Aloha Sunset and Slightly Stoopid Hawaii Tour
Slightly Stoopid (the band) did a Hawaii Tour in September (2024) and commissioned Drew to create the artwork for their tour posters.
Drew painted his version of the big waves and Island Vibe, remembering how much he loved surfing on the North Shore back in the 1990's when he lived there.
This painting was named ALOHA SUNSET and was the perfect vibe! (The original painting sold to a collector in San Diego.)
Drew wasn't able to go to Hawaii for the concert, but he and Maria did make it to Slightly Stoopid's gig in Chula Vista and got to hang with the band members. Together, Drew and the band hand-signed a limited number of art prints for charity.
As usual, Drew made his artwork available as a collectible art print. You can see all options here for ALOHA SUNSET.
Drew says of the inspiration behind the artwork: "I lived on the North Shore of Oahu for a few years in my twenties. They were some of the best memories of my surfing life. So when Slightly Stoopid asked me to create art that they can use for their 2024 Hawaii tour posters, the idea for this painting came easily to me.
When I sketched out the concept for this painting, I imagined a clean, basic design of a giant wave (my favorite), a small surfer, and a grass hut that everyone dreams of escaping to. I added the Hawaiian elements of flowers in the water and a volcano popping off into the sunset.
I was stoked on how this one came out, sometimes you just get it right. It's bursting with energy. I hope that anyone who gets to enjoy this artwork is transported right onto that beach, enjoying the island life."
Below is a photo of the concert poster. Turned out great, didn't it?!
