ABOUT THE ART The original painting was designed for a LibTech snowboard in a collaboration with Matt Biolos of ...Lost Surfboards. Drew and Matt have collaborated on many works going back 25 years.
Drew says of this art: "Matt Biolos and I have been designing cool stuff for many years. The Lost surfboards that we created back in the early 90s were cutting edge. Every board was different and extreme. The Lost Winter art was born from ideas from our past.
Matt is an avid snowboarder and he always wanted me to do a graphic on one of his snowboards. Matt envisioned a series of elements I’ve painted in the past, the tangled roots skull at the top, red eyes on it because it looks insane going down the mountain in the snow. He wanted towering mountains, bottom of the mountain glaciers, frozen waves of water. In the center is the traditional wave which I’m known for.
My favorite part is at the bottom, the giant screaming skull with an open mouth, dripping with blood. The whole piece flows really well and looks badass."
