Drew says of the inspiration behind this artwork: "Tube Traveler is my attempt to articulate what it felt like, having a Near Death Experience. When I left my body, I felt like I was being caught in a beautiful vortex, flowing through a river of light. And I surrendered to it.

It was like surfing through the tube of a wave; time slows down and for a brief moment, I feel a sensation of being completely in sync with the Universe. That’s why I’ve been addicted to surfing my whole life. 

When you’re on the other side, you are in sync with everything, all-that-is, all the time. And it feels blissful.

This little painting is an illustration of what I felt on the other side; pure bliss, being spit through the tube of the Universe."
