Surf and Paint your Surfboard with DREW at WACO SURF! May 30 - June 1, 2025

SURF AND PAINT A SURFBOARD WITH ME AT WACO SURF (TEXAS)!

I'll be leading a PAINT YOUR SURFBOARD CLINIC at one of my favorite surf spots, Waco Surf in Texas, and I want you to come surf and paint with me!

Waco is one of those places you have to go at least once in your life - the waves are perfect, the vibe is fun, warm water and stoke all around.

Add the element of painting your surfboard with me and a few others, and it's weekend you'll never forget!

This weekend is great for the entire family. There's a lot to do at Waco!

THE SURFBOARD PAINTING CLINIC starts at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 31st and ends with you have a finished painting on June 1st. (You'll want to arrive Waco on Friday, May 30th.)

In between surf sessions, we will be painting!

ACCOMODATIONS: You can book your stay anywhere in Waco, but the most fun is if you book a room or cabin on-site at Waco Surf. 

DATES: Arrive the night before, on May 30th.  We start the clinic on Saturday, May 31st 8 a.m. sharp. There will be plenty of time to get surfs in during the day. We will have a paint party that Saturday night, and finish up on Sunday morning.

BRING: A brand new surfboard to paint (make sure it's never been waxed and has a sand finish) and a surfboard to ride. I'll supply all the paints and art supplies.

Start and Finish your own surfboard painting in two days!

This is a rare opportunity to spend two days at WACO Surf, painting your surfboard and surfing alongside world renowned surfboard artist, Drew Brophy.

About Drew Brophy: In the 1990’s, Drew Brophy changed the way surfboards were painted forever; pioneering the use of Posca Paint Pens over the glass of surfboards. Since then, Drew has painted tens of thousands of surfboards for some of the greatest shapers and surfers in the world.

IN DREW BROPHY’S SURFBOARD PAINTING CLINIC YOU WILL:

SURFBOARD PAINTING CLINIC SCHEDULE  (subject to change as needed)

DAY 1:  

8:00 -10 a.m. MORNING CLINIC

• Introduction to painting your board or canvas

• Preparation pro techniques to properly sand, clean, prepare surface

• Sketching - create your design to complement the shape of your board

• Apply sketch to board

• Begin adding color with the paint pens

10-6 Surf, Eat, Work on your project throughout the day

Drew will come around and give individual guidance on your project. He will spend personal time with each person, teaching them how to make their painting go from good to great.

6-8 p.m. PAINT PARTY CLINIC

• Paint together

• Learn color blocking: using Drew’s tried and true method for painting tens of thousands of surfboards, you’ll add color methodically in blocks.

• Learn how to blend colors, using Drew’s secret “color combinations” to get the effects you want

DAY 2:

8-10 a.m. MORNING CLINIC

• Assessing and critiquing your progress

• Learn Drew’s secret finishing touches using highlights and lowlights

• Take your painting from “good” to “GREAT” with simple tips

• How to properly seal your painting using Drew’s method so the paint never comes off, ever.

11:00 a .m. CHECK OUT 

Drew will stay on site until 4 p.m. for last minute help with those continuing to paint throughout the day.
